About Mike
Mike is the son of Madeline and the late Ed Allen. The family has deep roots in the St. John River Valley where members of the family have been in engaged in farming, railroad operations, education and politics. Mike has several years experience with NB Power and in private consulting. His strong personal beliefs in leadership, empowerment and excellence have stood him in good stead in all of the various challenges he has undertaken.With a Bachelor of Business Administration from UNB and an MBA with Honours from the University of Pittsburgh, he has been a consultant to major energy and retail companies, in Canada and the United States, in the areas of business strategy and information systems. Mike is a member of the Certified General Accountant’s Association of New Brunswick. A past President of the Fredericton Golf and Curling Club, he has also served on several organizing committees for such groups as the Canadian Nuclear Association, the World Energy Congress, and the NB Construction Symposium. Always an active member of the community, his key interests are in being both a coach and player in the areas of baseball, hockey and golf. Mike was elected the Member of Parliament for Tobique-Mactaquac in January 2006 and re-elected in October 2008. During his first term, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development and the Standing Committee on Natural Resources. He currently serves on the Standing Committees on Fisheries and Oceans and Natural Resources. He was Vice-Chair of the Atlantic Conservative Caucus during his first term and last fall was named the group’s Chairman. Mike resides in Douglas with his wife, Jennifer. |
