MP’s Seniors Fairs Will Offer Information and More
May 04, 2009
TOBIQUE-MACTAQUAC – Do you have questions about Old Age Security, eating healthy, being active or safety in your home? Perhaps you’ve been wondering if you should sell your home and live in an apartment or you need someone to check your passport application before sending it away. These questions and many more can be answered by attending Seniors Fairs in Perth-Andover and Nackawic, hosted by Tobique-Mactaquac MP Mike Allen. This is the second year that the Chair of the Atlantic Conservative Caucus has offered such events, and last year they were a huge success in Plaster Rock and Woodstock. “There are a lot of seniors in this riding, and I really wanted to do something a little special for them by providing one-stop information spots,” said Mr. Allen. “The weather is finally nicer and I know how much everyone wants to get out and about.” The Seniors Fairs will be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the River Valley Civic Centre in Perth-Andover and on Friday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Nackawic Arena in Nackawic. Admission is completely free. “Besides the government departments, non-profit organizations and members of associations who will have booths, seniors can attend brief information sessions throughout the day,” Mr. Allen explained. At both locations, there will also be entertainment, and a free light lunch will be served. “I am so pleased we are able to have experts on various subjects take part in our fairs and spend five hours with seniors in the riding,” Mr. Allen said. “I look forward to seeing both old friends and new faces throughout the day in Perth-Andover and Nackawic. |
