Over $11,000 in Celebrate Canada! Grants Awarded

TOBIQUE-MACTAQUAC – Mike Allen, Member of Parliament for Tobique-Mactaquac, recently informed 14 communities in his riding of their “Celebrate Canada!” grants. These communities applied through the Canadian Heritage program, with funds for the riding amounting to a total of $11,200. “One of the best things about my job as a Member of Parliament is delivering good news,” Mr. Allen said. “As a proud Canadian myself, I realize the importance of celebrating this great country and what it means to be a Canadian citizen.” The “Celebrate Canada!” period runs from June 21 to July 1 and includes National Aboriginal Day on June 21, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day on June 24, Canadian Multiculturism Day on June 27 and, of course, Canada Day on July 1. Grants were awarded to the following organizations and communities: Families of Upper Nashwaak (F.U.N.), Upper Nashwaak Lions Club Inc., Keswick Valley Recreation Council Inc., Town of Nackawic Recreation and Parks Department, Village of Millville, Canterbury Contributing Community Circle, Town of Woodstock Recreation & Community Services Department, Hartland Canada Day Committee, Village of Florenceville, Village of Bath Canada Day Committee, Glassville Community Centre, Perth-Andover Recreation & Parks Department, Arthurette Canada Day Committee and Village of Plaster Rock Canada Day Committee. “I look forward to attending as many of these events as I possibly can,” said Mr. Allen.
